
SGA operates under the authority granted by the University of Hartford, which empowers student leaders to participate in self-governance. This authority allows SGA to serve as a bridge between students and the University of Hartford Administration, ensuring that student voices are heard in institutional decision-making.
Core Responsibilities
A. Advocacy & Representation: Representing all student concerns, needs, and perspectives to university leadership, faculty, and staff.
B. Policy & Governance: Contributing to discussions on policies that impact students, including academic affairs, campus services, and the student experience.
C. Student Organization Oversight: In tandem with the Office of Student Engagement and Inclusion (OSEI) supporting recognized student organizations, including funding allocations and leadership development.
D. Budget Management: Allocating and managing student activity fees to support student initiatives, programs, events, and organizations.
E. Campus Engagement: Enhancing student involvement through programming, leadership opportunities, and community-building efforts.
F. Collaboration with Administration: Working alongside university leaders to improve the student experience and address key institutional priorities.
