On April 7th, Hawk’s Nest hosted Redtail Records Hip-Hop/R&B Night from 9:00 – 11:00 p.m., drawing a lively crowd of students eager to support local talent. Redtail Records is the University of Hartford’s artist management and performance organization, dedicated to creating opportunities for student musicians to gain exposure and perform in front of their peers. Throughout each semester, the group organizes a variety of events, with Hip-Hop/R&B Night standing out as a notable highlight.
The event gave Hawk’s Nest a completely different atmosphere than a typical evening. Instead of its usual setting as a dining space, the restaurant transformed into a vibrant music venue filled with energy and excitement. Students gathered not only to enjoy food, but also to experience live performances from artists within their own campus community. The combination of music, food, and a supportive crowd created a unique and engaging environment.
The audience was lively throughout the night, reacting enthusiastically to each performance. Many students sang along, danced, and cheered on their friends as they took the stage. The sense of community was evident, as performers and attendees alike fed off each other’s energy. For many artists, the event served as an important platform to showcase their work and connect with new listeners.
Redtail Records is also hosting Live from the Lawn and Rock the Block on April 17th-18th, UHart’s first music festival since 2018. Follow @redtailrecords on Instagram for updates and other shows!
