After five games, the Texas Rangers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks to win the 2023 World Series. Since entering Major League Baseball in 1961, the Rangers have never before won the World Series. How did the team that had never done it before complete that task? Texas won the first game 6–5, setting the tone early. Adolis Garcia, who went 3-4 with a home run and two hits, along with Josh Jung and Evan Carter, helped their offense take center stage. But the Diamondbacks stormed back, winning the second game 9-1. Tommy Pham of Arizona has four hits in seven innings against one run allowed by starting pitcher Merrill Kelly, tying the series at one.
In the third game, the Rangers stepped on the throttle and never looked back. Texas pitchers Jon Gray and Max Scherzer teamed for a strong pitching performance that enabled them to win 3-1 despite giving up no runs in six innings. Jonah Heim, Marcus Semien, and Corey Seager all hit home runs in game four, which resulted in an 11-7 victory. At last, Nathan Eovaldi had a great game in game five. He pitched six innings, giving up zero runs and picking up five strikeouts. Josh Sborz’s outstanding bullpen work and Marcus Semien’s home run helped to seal the Series with a 5-0 victory and a shutout. The World Series MVP was Corey Seager, after batting .286 with three home runs in the gentleman’s sweep. Seager became the fourth player to win a World Series MVP for two teams, as he won it for the Dodgers in 2020.
With the World Series over, the 2023 MLB season has officially ended, and we now turn to the offseason.
