The men’s basketball team from the University of Hartford defeated Curry College last Saturday by a score of 63-56 at Chase Arena in West Hartford. Hartford took the lead, leading 30 to 21, in the first half. The Hawks’ offense was unstoppable, and they never looked back, despite Curry’s efforts to make things interesting in the second half.
With 17 points, Henry Herman led the team in scoring, and Stephen Akwiwu recorded a double-double with 13 rebounds and 15 points. With ten rebounds, Trayon Rumley also had double figures. The squad shot 23–66 overall, making eight three-pointers, and they never let up the advantage after they took it.
The Hawks finally got back in the win column, snapping a seven-game losing streak. The team will play their final two games of the season this week. The first being today, February 14th, on the road against Western New England, and then the final game being on Saturday the 17th at home in West Hartford against University of New England.
