On February 14th and 15th, the Hartt School hosted its annual Collage, a concert highlighting the work of all the music programs offered at UHart. It allows attendees to experience some truly unique performances and appreciate the hard work and effort that music students put into their craft.
The show’s opening, the Commercial Music program’s tribute to Motown, was a true highlight. Featuring energetic reimaginings of two Marvin Gaye classics, this ensemble set an exciting tone for the night. Another highlight of the show was The Hartt Brass Ensemble’s performance of “Quidditch” from Harry Potter. The opportunity to experience such a rousing piece of music live in an acoustic space like the Lincoln Theater was a privilege. Other highlights of the night were the incredible operatic performances from Porgy and Bess, and Candide.
The 2025 Collage also featured performances from the Hartt School Orchestra, Theatre Division, Chamber Choir, Saxophone Ensemble, Guitar Quartet, Percussion Ensemble, and Dance Division. The wide variety of performances of musical styles is one of the main reasons why Collage is such a terrific fixture of the Hartt School. Most college students rarely get opportunities to hear live operatic and orchestral performances — or see a live ballet. Every student at UHart should try to attend next year’s Collage and experience the best of what the Hartt School has to offer. It is a show that is truly special and incredibly entertaining.
