Save the date because CurlFest is happening once again this year, July 27. CurlFest is a festival created by the Curly Girl Collective in which they make it their mission to showcase and embrace natural hair. Usually held in New York, CurlFest originally started as an email thread between a few women who wanted tips for their natural hair. CurlFest started in 2014 and has since garnered thousands of people’s attention. For Tracey Coleman, one of the founders, CurlFest is a way for women to feel like they are a part of something and that their hair is desirable even in a society that tells them otherwise.
