In this season’s preseason coach’s poll, the Hartford Women’s Golf team was voted in at number four in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. This puts them in the top five with the likes of defending 2019 champion Albany, who received 75 points in the poll and five first-place votes. The University of Albany is a three-time defending MAAC champion. Following the University of Albany is Quinnipiac University, University of Dayton, University of Hartford, and rounding out the top five, Siena College.

The Hawks have seven returning players, including senior Maria Loza. Loza is coming into this season with a career-best 75.21 stroke average, which is a program best. The 2019 season also saw Loza become the MAAC Tournament individual champion. Before the COVID-19 pandemic put an end to last season, she ended the shortened season with a team-best 75.42 stroke average. This average broke her previous career and program best 75.53, which she set in the 2018-2019 season.

The rest of the MAAC Conference goes as follows: Fairfield University was voted in at number six, Monmouth College at number seven, Niagara University at number eight, and rounding out the conference, La Salle University. We here at the University of Hartford wish our Women’s Golf team well as they get set to make a run for this year’s championship.
