As the new sports season is underway, we return to an old segment that was enjoyed by many with introducing our Male and Female Athletes of the Week. For this week, our Male Athlete of the Week will be awarded to Nick Benjamin of the Men’s Soccer Team.

Nick Benjamin of the Hartford Men’s Soccer Team took home the America East Defensive Player of the Week Honors for his performance this past weekend. He anchored a backline that helped the Hawks pitch two shutouts. As a defender, Benjamin has contributed to three shutouts this season added two points after tallying the game-winning goal against Albany on March 5th.

With his first weekly award, the Stonington, Conn., native becomes the fourth player to earn weekly recognition from the America East in 2021. Additionally, he is the second Hawk to take home Defensive Player of the Week accolades.

The Hawks, who have already secured a spot in the America East championship, look to finish off their regular-season strong as they host the University of Albany Great Danes at Al-Marzook Field. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
