COVID19: The Omicron Strain

COVID19 – The pandemic that has been around since March of 2020 has been collectively showing new strains of the virus that has affected our lives for over two years now. The variant that has been the reason for the rising Covid cases today was named the Omicron Variant.
The symptoms of the Omicron variant can be different than those of the original Covid19 virus – or the Delta Variant that hit the U.S. in the winter of 2021. Experts of this virus are understanding more how this specific strain affects people who are vaccinated, unvaccinated, or who have already had Covid. It is has been proven that those who are exposed to the Omicron variant get sick faster and have more symptoms than those who are exposed to the other strains of this virus.
Evidence has shown that for those who are up on their Covid vaccinations, this strain appears to cause an illness that resembles the common cold, and symptoms appear to last three to five days in most cases. The prominent symptoms from omicron include:
– Cough
– Fatigue or tiredness
– Congestion and runny nose
– Sore throat
– Headache
These symptoms are not enough for self-diagnosis. Doctors are urging people who have been experiencing any of these symptoms or many cold or flulike symptoms to get tested as soon as possible since this strain has shown evidence of being vastly spread and highly
contagious. The CDC is also recommending for people to get vaccinated, as well as get the booster shot since it has also been proven that those with all three vaccinations have had more of a mild case.
