The Hartford Hawks Softball team has officially announced the schedule for the upcoming 2022 season. The Hawks are set to play a total of 44 games starting in Norfolk, Virginia, in a double-header against Norfolk State. The team will make their home debut on March 17 against Holy Cross. The game against Holy Cross is the first of an eight-game homestand. After Holy Cross, the Hawks take on Manhattan in a double-header, followed by Fairfield in a single-game series. America East conference play for the Hawks begins on April 2 with a three-game weekend series against the UMass Lowell River Hawks. Following the series against UMass Lowell, Hartford squares up against defending America East Conference Champions, UMBC. The 2022 America East playoffs will start on May 13 with the hope of declaring a new champion on May 15. The Hawks finished last place in the conference in the 2021 season with a total record of 4-13. In the 2022 America East pre-season coaches’ poll, the Hawks are in last place and the UMBC Terriers in the first place. Following the 2021 season, the team hired a new head coach, Mairin Dudek. After hiring a new head coach and a long off-season, the Hartford Hawks softball team looks to bounce back and shock the conference in the 2022 season.
