Hartford Men’s Baseball team suffered yet another setback. The Hawks fall to 1-15 after losing this past weekend’s series to UMBC. The Retrievers got off to an impressive start during Friday’s game. After three innings of play, UMBC led with a score of 13 to 2. Hartford struggled to close the gap, ultimately leading to their defeat.
Saturday’s game was a closer contest as Hartford managed to score nine runs, but once again, UMBC held their own. They scored 16 runs on 17 hits. Graduate transfer Myles Nicholson contributed to the routing of Hartford with six hits and eight runs. The Hawks were up for it on Sunday as they pounced on UMBC early. They led by a score of 3-1 after seven innings. However, after an eighth-inning collapse, Hartford fell.
Despite the defeat, several Hawks had a spectacular weekend. Junior Infielder, Tremayne Cobb JR, finished the weekend with four hits and three RBIs. Derek Tenney and Brett Anderson also combined for seven hits and two RBIs. Next up for Hartford is the in-state rival, Fairfield University. Coming off a 2-1 weekend against Marist College, the Stags are currently 8-12 overall. The first pitch is scheduled for 2 pm in Fairfield, CT.
