Hawks Hit the Links for Weekend Tournament Fun

Both the Men and Women’s golf teams were out on the course this weekend for tournament play. The women’s golf team took part in two different tournaments throughout the weekend. Part of the team competed in the Prospect Bay Intercollegiate in Grasonville, Maryland, while the other half competed at the Hartford Wintonbury Hills Invitational in Bloomfield, Connecticut. The men’s golf team also competed in the Hartford Wintonbury Hills Invitational at the Wintonbury Hills Golf Course.
The top performer for the women’s team at Prospect Bay was freshman Grace Farland. Farland shot 30-over 246 across three rounds, tying for 21st. Freshman Madeline Adam wasn’t too far behind Farland as she shot 31-over 247 over three rounds. Back in Connecticut, the top performer for the Hawks at the Hartford Wintonbury Hills Invitational was Sofia Rodas. Rodas tied for 29th, shooting 21-over 161 over two rounds. Close behind Rodas was Hannah Drew, who shot a 164, and Teagan Devoe, who shot a 168. The next tournament for the women’s team is the Sacred Heart Spring Invitational on April 10.
The men’s golf team had a stellar weekend as three Hawks finished inside the top ten allowing Hartford to take home a third-place finish as a team. Leading the way for Hartford was graduate student Ryan Tomaso. Tomaso shot a 2-over 142 across two rounds tying for fifth place. Tying for seventh was senior Danny Frodigh, who shot a 4-over 144. The final golfer to finish top ten for the Hawks was Conor Byrne, who shot a 5-over 145 tying for ninth. The men’s golf team will return to action at the LIU Shark Invitational at Brookville Country Club in Glen Head, New York, on April 11.
