Base vs. Albany

The Hartford Hawks baseball team is now 5-13 in conference play after a weekend series against UAlbany. The Hawks got off to yet another slow start as the Great Danes took a 6 to nothing lead in the first inning of game 1. The visitors added three more runs in the top of the third inning, extending their lead to 9-0. Hartford managed to get on the scoreboard in the third inning, thanks to an RBI double by Tremayne Cobb Jr, bringing both Logan Cole and Kyle Hawes home. Despite that, UAlbany continued to pounce on the Hawks. By the seventh inning, the Great Danes were up 18 to 5 and would not give up their lead as Game 1 would end with a final score of 19-8.

Game 2 saw an improvement from the Hawks as they would grab an early lead following a double by Graduate student Noah Rivera, scoring both Tremayne Cobb Jr and Derek Tenney. Daniel Burnett would later extend Hartford’s lead following a solo home run in the second inning. The Hawks would not give up the lead as they would go on to win by a final score of 12 to 7. Game 3 would see the Hawks strike early once again with RBI singles from Noah Rivera and Derek Burnett. However, after a fourth-inning collapse, the Hawks would lose its two-run lead. The Great Danes would hold off Hartford to win the series two games to one on the road Hartford.

Next up for Hartford is a trip to UMass on Tuesday. The first pitch is set to take place at 3 pm.
