This weekend the Hartford Men’s Golf Team opened their season at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate in Kensington, Connecticut. Junior Conor Byrne led the way for the Hawks following a stellar performance.

After the first two rounds of the tournament, Byrne combined for a 6-under par or 136. In the weekend’s final round, he posted yet another 3-under par 68, which led the Hawks. Senior Manuel Romero had the best round of the entire tournament by posting a 4-under par 67, which also led him to a tie for 21st overall. The Hawks favored well in the individual portion of the tournament as Conor Byrne finished in sole fourth. Hartford escaped with a tied-for-sixth finish along with Army West Point and Fairfield University. Sacred Heart University took home the team title by finishing 23-under par with a combined score of 273 strokes. Sacred Heart’s own Marcus Lim took home the individual title posting a 10-under 132 across both days of the event.

Hartford returns to action on Monday, September 19, as they host their annual Hartford Hawks Invitational. The picturesque Bull’s Bridge Golf Club in South Kent, Connecticut, will be the site of the two-day invitational.
