September 22, 2022, WSAM Alternative Radio is the University of Hartford’s only student-run radio station. WSAM hosted its Live from the Lawn event from 12 – 8 pm on September 10, 2022. Admission was free and bands performed all afternoon in B-Lot next to GSU. Students enjoyed sets from bands: Psychic of Orange, Love N’ Co. Porcelaine, Cinema Stare, T!LT, Cheem, Haasan Barclay, Lightning Bug, Really From, Sipper, and Mannequin Pussy. The event was a big success with lots of great tunes from talented artists. Alexis Capelle, a student at the University of Hartford, captured the above photos from the event. The pictures feature crowds and a member of the popular band, Mannequin Pussy, who have an Instagram following of 50,000.

It was also announced that WSAM and Redtail Records with the students of the Jackie Mclean Institute of Jazz are hosting an event called Jazz Jam every other Thursday in Hawk’s Nest. The first session occurred on Thursday, September 22 at 7:30 pm. The house band performed for an hour and then students participated in an open jam from 8:45 – 10 pm.
