Hartford Women’s soccer won Sunday’s home game versus the Bryant University Bulldogs. The Hawks were seeking a bounce back after losing their previous game to Vermont 1-0.

Senior Makaela Montgomery-Williams opened the scoring in the 48th minute. She was assisted by Juliana Chiarella. Doireann Fahey doubled the Hawks’ lead less than two minutes later, making it her second this season.

The Bulldogs would seek a goal to cut the deficit, but the Hawks stood strong in goal, and they were unsuccessful. The Hawks’ defense impressed once again – shutting down every offensive threat from Bryant. Abigail McCarthy made five saves on her way to four clean sheets.

Hartford improves to 9-2-1 with an unbeaten record at home. They have also won 4 of their last 5 away games. They hope to win their final game away from home when they take on the UAlbany Great Danes on Oct. 20. The Great Danes are 5-8-3.

The Hawks have dominated UAlbany in the past. They lead the all-time series with 16 wins in 26 meetings. Although they are no longer conference foes, a win on Thursday is the objective for both schools.

Kickoff for that game is scheduled for 7 pm. The game will be played on the Bob Ford Field at Tom & Mary Casey Stadium, home of the UAlbany Great Danes.
