This past Sunday, the University of Hartford’s Women’s Basketball team took down Villa Maria by a score of 84-31. The win was Hartford’s second of the year and first at home inside the Chase Family Arena.

The points were coming in bunches for the Hawks in their dominant win. Sophomore guards Nayeli Dowding and Ta’Nya Outten led the team in scoring with 15 and 14 points apiece. This tied Downing’s career-high in points in a single game. Freshman guard Tatum Forbes, Freshman forward Elena Houghton, and Junior guard Kymilondra Nance each scored eight points.

Forbes and Houghton also each picked up eight rebounds. To go along with her eight rebounds, Houghton had six assists and five steals, as well as hitting the 100-point mark in her career. The Hawks shot just over 47% from the field and 80% from the free-throw line. Hartford played extraordinary defense with three blocks and eleven steals as a team which led to 35 points off turnovers.

The Hawks have now won two of their last three after starting off 0-21 and look to continue this small hot streak as they take on Merrimack in their final home game, this Thursday at five in Hartford at the Chase Arena.
