The Super Bowl half-time show is an immense honor for anyone who is invited to perform. Rihanna couldn’t have been a better choice – and let’s face it, her marketing for it through all her other brands was phenomenal. Sitting in a room full of men screaming over the game, I could not wait to see 13 glorious minutes of my favorite songs. Supposedly when she first came out, she rubbed her stomach – which I totally missed. But almost immediately, everyone had something to say about her body and I was fighting for my life to defend her postpartum look. Especially if she hasn’t officially confirmed it herself, I didn’t think it was fair for people to assume that she’s pregnant. Then, Monday morning, my TikTok feed was filled with videos of people’s take on the situation. Although Rihanna didn’t welcome any surprise guests on stage during the performance, she had mentioned the week prior that she was going to. Was the surprise guest the baby? I’m guessing that’s her way of confirming it. Nonetheless, I wish people were talking more about her comeback into the music industry and how great her performance was rather than if her stomach was “suspiciously round”.
