THE Water Alternative

THE Water Alternative

Maddie Gill, Managing Editor

As an avid drinker of seltzer water, I have become a self-proclaimed enthusiast. If it’s sold in grocery stores, I’ve tried it. Waterloo, Polar, Bubbly – all of the above I keep it stocked in my fridge. I’m not a big soda drinker. Of course, I enjoy the occasional cola, but there is something about the carbonation and no calories that makes these drinks a treat for me. Without guilt, I’m hydrated and getting some type of flavor beyond just throwing a lemon slice in my water bottle to sweeten it up. In addition, I’ve even found a way to repurpose said cans by ripping off the pull tabs and collecting them. Since they come in a variety of colors, I plan to make some resin-based coasters out of them. It’s become a fun habit to save the best-colored pull tabs for the project! While it’s not as cheap as plain old water, I still get excited over the 3 cases for 9 dollar deal at the store. It’s a healthier alternative to other carbonated drinks, while still providing the necessary nutrients of regular water. People who make a habit of switching from cola to seltzer water have seen many benefits in weight loss and sleeping schedules, by eliminating the caffeine in the drinks they have and cravings for snacks by being up late at night.
