For the first time since 2015, the Hartford Wolf Pack will be in the Calder Cup Playoffs as they are set to battle against the Springfield Thunderbirds in the Battle of Interstate 91. In the 12 meetings,  this season between the Wolf Pack and the Thunderbirds, Hartford only won 3 times. While the Thunderbirds will hold the momentum coming into the series, the opening round is only a best-of-three.

However, it will be significant because either team will only need two wins to secure their spot in the second round. The opening game of the series is set to take place on Wednesday night at 7:05 in the MassMutual Center in Springfield. Game two of the series will take place on Friday night, April 21st, at the XL Center, with game time set for 7:05. If necessary; game three will be Saturday night back up Interstate-91 inside the MassMutual Center with puck drop scheduled for 7:05. The XL Center will be hosting its first Calder Cup Playoff game since 2015 when the Wolf Pack were in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Manchester Monarchs.

The Wolf Pack were swept in that series, and on Wednesday night, they look not only to win game one, but eventually win the series against Springfield.
