The annual food drive competition organized by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has started. There will be food collection boxes in the locker rooms of every sporting team. A prize will be awarded to the team that raises the most money between the 11th and 20th. The Nosh at GSU receives a direct donation of all revenues. For those who are unaware, The Nosh is a food pantry that was established in 2022 to help the UHart community fight food insecurity. Students, educators, staff, alumni, and our neighbors around West Hartford are all served by The Nosh. Even though the student-athletes are the only ones participating in the competitive food drive, I believe it is crucial that we all try to give back during this month of gratitude. The Gengras Student Union’s room 207 is where anyone wishing to donate can drop off their items. Although canned goods are a reliable option, the following list of non-canned items is also suitable:
– Cold Cereal
– Peanut Butter
– Jelly
– Pasta
– Rice
– Granola Bars
They will also take personal care items such as soap, deodorant, toothpaste, razors, lotion, and most other hygiene products.
However you celebrate, give thanks by giving back this November.
